IS A KIDZ PT CAMP RIGHT FOR MY KID?
Intensive therapy tends to produce the greatest gains in kids with high needs. They're challenged by the therapy, and there's no time to get bored or over-tired.
For kids who largely function independently but are experiencing developmental delays, a 3-hour session is usually too long. Their transitions from one apparatus to the next are brief, and they may get bored or tired out by the repetition of the exercises. In this case, we can create 1 to 1 1/2 hour programs, even after school.
If your child has uncontrolled seizures or recent hip issues, Kidz PT might not be equipped to help your child. We're happy to speak with you if you have questions.
If you want to discuss the options with Lindsey before enrolling, send us an email. We'll ask you to submit a basic health history form for your child before the call.

HOW MANY CHILDREN DO YOU SEE AT KIDZ PHYSICAL THERAPY?
We see just one child at a time during a session. Your child will be the only one Lindsey is working with.
But we offer two sessions per day during the summer. From mid-June through August, Kidz PT has capacity for 8 kids total.
Since space is limited, reach out to us as soon as you can.
IS IT HARD TO GET IN TO A KIDZ PT CAMP?
Currently it's not difficult to schedule sessions when it works best for your family.
We have space for up to 8 kids over the summer, and we're not yet booked up for 2022.
WHAT CONDITIONS DO YOU WORK WITH AT YOUR CAMPS?
These programs are best suited for children in major phases of growth and development and that are medically stable.
Intensive therapy is best for kids who are on the cusp of achieving a new skill, like holding their head up, taking a step, or walking across the room. They get focused time to develop the strength, coordination, balance, and confidence to meet the next mobility goal.
Age range 2 - 16 years old.
Intensive camps are especially great for ages 2-6 and puberty. These are natural times of enhanced neuroplasticity in kids — when their brains are primed to learn new skills.
The most common diagnoses include:
Traumatic Brain Injury
Developmental Coordination Disorder
Torticollis: ages 2 months - 2 years (modified programs available)
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU HAVE?
The Universal Exercise Unit (known as The Cage)
KidWalk - Bodyweight supported gait
Rifton gait trainers
Rifton adapted bike
Bozu ball / therapy balls
Special tomato chairs
Electric horse riding machine
Pulleys and weights
Age appropriate toys
Benches, bolsters, and wedges
Aquatics options may be available.
WHAT'S THE CLINIC LIKE?
The Kidz PT clinic was designed specifically for children's therapy. It's colorful and filled with toys and equipment kids can't wait to work with. You can't miss Lindsey's love for Dr. Seuss.
The clinic space is attached to Dr. Lindsey Shay's home, where she has provided in-home physically therapy for her oldest child, Conner, for many years.

On the last day of camp, we may show you options for home therapy.
